Terry Pitt caught this 25lb beauty bar fishing at the Big Spruce.  Nice Fish!  Usually one rod is more active than the others.  This week Terry has been the “Hot Rod”.  Terry has hooked the most fish on the Big Spruce Bar this week.  They were not all landed but Terry’s rod was sure active.   Congratulations on a good week of fishing Terry.

Marc Girard  Pro Guide for Reliable Guide and Charters fishing with our clients, Mike and Jacob hooked 3 Chinook but only landed this 15lb Chinook on an evening drift.  Congratulations guys.  Well done Marc!
Summary
The Kitimat River is starting to produce Chinook more and more every day.  Although the size of most of the Chinook range from 15 to 25lbs , it is nice to see the the numbers of Chinook being caught start to increase.  The larger Chinook are still being caught further down the Douglas Channel.   The bigger Chinook should be here shortly.  I for one, want to be fishing when they get here.  Stay tuned because I think this is going to be very good year.  All indicators show that the river conditions should be in prime condition and more Chinook are starting to show up.  I think it is going to be an excellent Chinook season.

Mal commented that he thought they came a bit early but he got to spend some quality time with Cody.  Mal also coined a few words from Arnold Schwarzenegger,  “I’ll be Back!”,
I look forward to seeing  you guys again sometime nest week.

Larry Wesolowski of Nautical West Sportfishing reports, “ This week Nautical West Sport Fishing had the pleasure of taking 3 people from Alberta out on a trip for 3 days to one of our B&B spots in Hartley Bay.  John Laut , Len Norman and Russ Difior had the trip of a lifetime as they battled with several mature Chinook that all seemed to have the upper hand. Although they never landed a big Chinook they did get land several smaller ones. Early coho and lots of crab made for some delicious meals served on the boat. Final counts for the take home fish where 9 chinooks 6-21 lbs, 4 coho, and 1 halibut. They had a fantastic trip and the big ones that got away will keep them dreaming until there next trip.

Summary
We are heading into the most productive time to be fishing in the Douglas Channel.  There are plenty of Bottom fish to catch especially Halibut. The larger Chinook are bring caught in better numbers and Coho are already bing caught.  It is only a matter of time before the larger Chinook start showing up in the Kitimat Harbour.  I for one want to have my fishing line in the water when they get here. : )
