Sept 11 I had the pleasure of drifting with Bernie Schultz on our 1/2 Day Driftboat Trip Special. We only landed this one Coho on our drift. It was a slow morning with the Kitimat River so low and clean but it was pleasure spending time with Bernie who grew up in Kitimat and our families have know each other for years.

SUMMARY
The Kitimat River is exceptionally low this week and will drop into record low water levels if this nice weather continues. When the river is this low, clean and bright, more Coho usually move into the river during the AM tides in the dark rather than the PM or daytime tides.
The best time to fish has been from day break to to 9 or 10 in the morning.
The 18′ and 19 ‘ afternoon tides have produced a few Coho but over-all the morning bite has been the best.
The forecast is calling for some rain on the weekend but in Kitimat, we have to be carefull what we wish for.

Sept 12 Charter with John Geelen and Anthony charters went very well, Ron. We had two fish on, but they came off. John and Anthony took some nice crab home. Sent you a photo. Weather was superb.
SUMMARY
Coho fishing is at best sketchy and is in the latter stage of the Coho run in the Douglas Channel. Most Coho have migrated into their spawning rivers, streams and creeks. There are still a few Coho caught but not in any big numbers. It is now a situation of being in the right place at the right time as Coho continue to migrate into the rivers but are not schooling up any more.
Most boaters have switched focus onto Halibut with the increased Dailly Quota. Crab and Prawn is also very good although, it is more productive to use fresh bait.
