KITIMAT RIVER PHOTO OF THE WEEK

“Happy Father’s Day”

June 15 I had the pleasure of fishing with my Favorite grand daughter, Piper (I only have one : ) , and my Favorite Daughters, Julie and Michelle on Father’s Day.

I believe that the most special experience I can share with my family is my Love of Fishing!
Fishing together on Father’s Day makes it more Special.
What makes this Chinook even more special is that it was caught on Piper’s rod and Piper fought and landed the fish.  Julie was on the oars, Michelle coached and helped Piper with the rod and I netted the Chinook.
It was a Total Team Effort!  Good Job Team!
Congratulations everyone and Thank You for making this Dad/Grand Pa both Happy and Proud!
As most Fathers and Grandfathers can attest to is that fishing is best when shared with your family.
Lots of Love on Father’s Day!

SUMMARY

Chinook fishing on the Kitimat River the past week has been outstanding.  I believe a few  significant factors caused the excellent Chinook fishing this week.  As predicted in previous reports, the main factor was the significantly high tides we received this past week.  The other factor was the number of Killer Whales that have been spotted in the Douglas Channel, especially in the Kitimat Harbour at the mouth of the Kitimat River.  Lastly is the Kitimat River conditions have been excellent.   River conditions were perfect for Father’s Day!  The proof is in the pictues. 🙂
Stay tuned to this Fishing Report for more Chinook action.

SUMMARY

The Chinook through out the Douglas Channel this week have been “Hit and Miss”.  While a few of the boaters have done exceptionally well, most boaters are struggling to find the larger schools of Chinook in their traditional spots.
The consesus amongst most of the Saltwater Anglers is that increased number of Killer Whales feeding in the Douglas Channel is causing this..  Many boaters are reporting seeing more pods of Killer Whales than they normally see.  Killer Whales have been spotted from the outer waters of the Douglas Channel to the Gazebo in front of MK BAY Marina at the mouth of the Kitimat River..
As soon as the Chinook school up in any numbers, the Killer Whales are scaterring them.
Much to delight of the Kitimat River Chinook Anglers as theis week’s Chinook fishing in the river has been outstanding.
Since the Chinook fishing has been off,  Halibut, Botomfish and crab has been the focus for many boaters.  Halibut, Bottomfishing and Crabbing has remained very good.
No matter how good the catch was, many Fathers and Grand Fathers had an Amazing Fathers Day.  : )
