Summary
The very hot weather last week created higher river levels with the additional snow melt. We suspected that the high water brought more Chinook into the Kitimat River. This week’s cooler temperatures has produced excellent river fishing conditions and anglers have enjoyed catching a lot more Chinook in the cleaner water. Catch numbers reveal a higher numbers of 3 year old Chinook being caught. These Jack Chinook are usually just under 75 cms. We are hopefull the D.F.O managers will consider a retention of these 3 year old Chinook on the Kitimat River. Stay tuned to this Fishing Report as I will post any Public Notices as soon as I receive them.

Summary
The Kitimat Harbour Fishery is starting to produce some Chinook. There were a few days that the afternoon winds brought the boats in and last week the Killer Whales also turned the bite off. Smart money says that if the weather is good, the Kitimat River is low and there is a bite on for Chinook in the Harbour, stay on it because one or all of the above will effect the bite.
Halibut has been good on the outer waters. Crabbing is always good in the Douglas Channel.
