I had the pleasure of fishing with 3 generations of the female side of the Schaber family. Led by the “Admiral”, Ellie, followed next in rank by Lisa Sailor and then granddaughter and niece to the above was Jalisa Schaber. And I was Captain RON. 🙂
We were having so much fun, this team was soon nicknamed “Ronda and the Mermaids”. The 3 Mermaids are holding the huge Chum that Jalisa reeled to the boat, Lisa netted while Ellie cleared the rods. Great Job everyone!
As always when one hangs out with ladies, one must multi-task. In addition to rowing the boat and taking some hits on behalf of the male gender, I was doing a little staff training with Jalisa who runs our Mobile Tackle Van. Although the fishing started out slow we managed to cover all topics of discussions.. We talked about everything from, “where one was proposed to”, Christianity to “the species of trees” and everything in between. All the while, we remained focused on fishing and I stressed the importance of “faith”. “We have to believe!”, echoed out several times as we continued to put out the right colours of the right lures, in the right spots with the faith that the “Fish God” would soon smile upon us.
As always, The Good Lord did not disappoint and we all blessed with an amazing fishing trip that was full of laughter, faith and fish.
Thank You Lord for the blessings and Thank You ladies for creating a page in my history book of life that I never forget.
PS The official scoring is that Jalisa earned her Hot Shot badge, Chum badge and her Chinook badge.
Jalisa is holding a 18 lb Chinook that she fought to the boat.
Well done Jalisa! Congratulations to the “Ronda and the Mermaids fishing team”!

Summary
Early in the week, fishing in the KItimat River continued to be on again, off again. During the later part of this week fishing heated up with the arrival of lots of Pinks, Chum and some bright Chinook caught especially on the lower Kitimat on the rising tides.
Jalisa on our Mobile Tackle Van logs every fish she sees. Where they are caught, when they are caught and how they are caught. She will also be posting photos with the specific times that these fish are caught. Jalisa is an awesome addition to Ron’s Mobile Tackle Van and Bait Shop’s fishing team. Please review the pictures of Jalisa holding the fish she caught above. The proof is in the pictures. In addition to Jalisa’s passion for fishing, Jalisa possesses the the ability and the desire to help others catch fish.
Anyone wanting info to catch fish or need anything, please call 1 780 898 1654 or Ron at 250 632 1275.

As written in past fishing reports, I stated that I thought that Chinook, Pink and Chum were late. As expected all these species are running now. Although they did not come when they were supposed to, we should all be Thankful they are here now.
