SUMMARY

The Kitimat River received some rain this week and as it typical this time of year, the river rose and dirtied but only for one day.. Decent numbers of Coho are still being caught but not in the numbers we experienced.earlier in the season.
As the river level rises with the rain, Coho will move up stream.  The challenge during this phase of the Kitimat River Coho season is to find where they are stacked up.
It is like “HIde and Seek”.  It is sure a lot of fun when you find them.
The exceptionally high numbers of Blue Back Coho (Coho between 30 and 50cms) continue to be caught in higher than normal numbers.
I still have a feeling that this year’s Coho run will continue well into October.
Stay Tuned!

SUMMARY

Saltwater Anglers are reminded that Halibut closed Sept 30 2023 midnight.

Halibut Coastwide Closed Recreational halibut fishing closes Coastwide as of midnight September 30.

With most of the Coho in their spawning rivers and creeks, Coho fishing is mostly finished with the exception of a few rivers that produce a late run.  There will be a few Salmon opportunities with Winter Chinook.
With the recent Halibut closure, it appears this year’s Douglas Channel Fishery is coming to an end.
A few boaters are doing their last crab and prawn feed!
