SUMMARY
Life is Good on the Kitimat River. Blue Skies. Sunshine and Lots of salmon.
All five species are in the the Kitimat River right now. Anglers are reminded that retention of Chinook closed on July 31st and there is no retention of Sockeye on the Kitmat River.
The Hatchery Brood stock Collection team have reported excellent returns of Chinook as they were able to easily able to collect their brood stock.
The Chum return this year has also been been outstanding. .We are fortunate to have the Kitimat River Hatchery enhancing the Kitimat River stocks.
A Big Thank You to the Kitimat Hatchery staff for their hard work and dedication,
Some of the male Pink are starting to grow their humped backs and some of the Chum are starting turn into their deeper spawning colours but the Stars of the week are the higher than normal numbers of Coho that are being caught to date.
I was born and raised in Kitimat and I can not remember a late JUly or early August that has had this many Coho caught this early.
Hopefully this early return translates into an awesome Coho Season.
Stay tuned!.

SUMMARY
The Douglas Channel boaters experienced Blue Skies and Sunshine and with the exception of the odd windy day most boaters have enjoyed Calm Seas.
Blue Skies, Sunshine and Calm Seas with Lots of Fish! The Perfect Recipe for Fishing Trips of a Lifetime!
We are truly Blessed to be able to fish the Douglas Channel this time of year.
Halibut fishing has been and continues to be outstanding! Coho fishing has been erratic at times. There have a few really good days of Coho fishing and the stocks and catch have been increasing into the inner waters of the Douglas Channel and then there a couple of off days. Many boaters are speculating that this is being caused by the larger than normal numbers of Killer whales hunting in the Douglas Channel.
