Aug 5 Pro Guide, Dan Patchett for Reliable Guide and Charters guided Jeff and Rylan Davis and their friend Sunny. This group caught a lot of fish and had a lot of fun doing it. One of the most gratifying moments as a father is to watch the excitement of a fututre fishing partner. The smile on young Rylan’s face says it all.

Aug 9 I had the pleasure of fishing with Fabian and Nicholas on our 1/2 Day Driftboat Special.
Fabian and Nicholas had never fished salmon before and it was refreshing to observe the excitement of these two young, keen anglers. Fabian and Nicholas were very polite, well mannered boys who were quick to learn and easy to teach. We hooked 16 Pinks, landed 6 and had a whole lot of fun in the process.
Well done Boys! Congratulations on an excellent day of fishing.
Aug 11 Mike and Jeremy Annett are holding a couple of Pinks they caught on the gravel bar below the Kitimat Hatchery. One of the Pinks, Jeremy is holding was caught by their sister, Corinne. These Pinks all had sealice even though one had some colour. Congratulations to the Annett brothers with honorable mention to your sister.
Aug 12 Palo, Thomas, Andrej, Lado from Calgary had an awesome last morning of fishing on the Kitimat River.
This was their last day fishing the Kitimat River and it is safe to say that they ended their trip strong! You can’t write a better script than this. Congratulations to everyone! See you again next year.

Summary
We have been spoiled by outstanding salmon returns in the past few years. Pinks, Chum and Chinook returns have been really good. This year’s return has not been as good especially the PInks. There are still a fair number of salmon in specific spots along the Kitimat River but anglers had to fish a little harder than usual. Pinks are still the preferred fish for young anglers as demonstrated in the photos in this week’s report.

Salmon has been sparse , but the whales are really putting on a show , and the weather has been beautiful,”

Aug 5 Dave Payjack of Seawest Fishing Charters provided this photo and comment, “Mark, John, Chris and Colin today with David Payjack The salmon are very slow the last 4 days with only a few caught by each guide as they are way offshore to far for a day trip. Bottom fishing is very good though while we wait for them to come In closer. 8 nice halibut, 19 rockfish, 1 chum, 6 Ling Cod and crab still an incredible 2 days of sports fishing with 9 year repeat clients.”.
