Dan Patchett, Pro guide for Reliable Guide and Charters and I had the pleasure of guiding Bob Derksen, Rod Fitzpatrick, Dave Epp and Craig Epp. This group landed 12 Coho on our drift and we had a lot of fun in the process. There was a little “trash talking” during our trip which always produces some funny moments. Thank You to Bob, Dave, Rod and Craig for using our Guiding Services.
Sept 13
Chris Thompson, Pro Guide for Nautical West and Reliable Guide and Charters guided our clients, Lore and Laurie Dallyn. They landed 6 Coho and kept 3 during their drift down the Kitimat River. Lore and Laurie commented that they loved drifting the Kitimat River. Congratulations for your catch! Great Job Chris! Thank You for using our Guiding Services.
Summary
Most of the Coho caught on the lower Kitimat River this season have been caught during the morning bite. It has also been productive during the rising tides especially when the Kitimat was low and clear. After the rain we received on the weekend, there are lots of Coho being caught in the middle and upper sections of the Kitimat River. Most notably are the Cable Car pool and the Powerlines. Depending on the weather conditions Coho fishing will continue to be good through out September into October.

Summary
A couple of boaters this week have reported a bit of a late run of Coho in the Kitimat Harbour. It may be a case of being in the right place at the right time but it is a positive indicator of the strength of this year’s Coho return. Halibut fishing was sporadic in the inner waters of the Douglas Channel this week. As always boaters who have been able to find the halibut are happy with their catch. This year’s halibut fishery has been outstanding.
