Kitimat River
May 4 I landed this Steelhead while fishing with one of my favorite fishing partners, my son, Corey. The Kitimat River was high and murky but still fishable.
Summary
The Kitimat River Steelhead was very good this season. We have been receiving hot weather for the last few weeks and the river has been high and dirty. Most Steelhead are in spawning colours and/or have already spawned and are heading back out to sea.
Many anglers are awaiting an update to the recent zero rentention of Chinook on the Kitimat River. We are awaiting a Public Notice scheduled for early June. Stay tuned to this Fishing Report.

Prince Rupert
May 20:Dave Eng, ” Chinook fishing has been phenomenal. Good catches of fish have been averaging 10-25 pounds with some mid 30’s starting to show up. Saturday the largest Chinook of the season so far for sunset Charters was caught and successfully released after a quick picture. We are strongly recommending to all of our guests to release these larger fish, as they are becoming less and less regular across the coast, as well as they carry more eggs and the genetics to make more trophy fish. We need to make every effort to save them.” Anyone wishing to Book a Trip with Dave, please contact Ron 250 632 1275 or wakita@telus.net
Dave added that, “Halibut fishing has been as good as any other part of the season, and stays steady right through the year”
The proof is in the pictures !!!
