KITIMAT RIVER PHOTO OF THE WEEK: My cousin Mike Wakita is holding a Kitimat Hatchery Steelhead he landed on the Kitimat River April 27th.  Mike and I were doing a morning drift.on a mission to complete the "Triple Crown".  The "Triple Crown" is a personal challenge I have developed over the years.  The challenge is to catch a Steelhead using 3 different fishing methods on the same drift.  We had to catch a Steelhead on a Hot Shot , one on a Fly and one on tackle.  We landed one using tackle and one on a Hot Shot but we lost the third leg of the Triple Crown on the fly.  So close but hooking 5 Steelhead, landing 2 is a pretty good morning.  Thanks Mike for a...

PHOTO OF THE WEEK: Brandon and Corey Wakita holding a wild Kitimat River Steelhead.  It is not a big fish but nevertheless a proud Father moment with my 2 sons. It was a team effort. I was rowing. Brandon fought the fish and Corey netted it. (catch and release mesh) In light of recent death in our family, we realised how precious life is  and decided to cease the moment and go on a special fishing trip.  We coined this Steelhead "The Uncle Brian fish". KITIMAT RIVER PHOTO OF THE WEEK: Dan Borassa from Kelowna is holding a very large wild male Kitimat River Steelhead he caught on a single handed fly rod. We estimated this steelhead weighed in the mid twenties. This is the biggest Steelhead I have seen come out of Kitimat River in a few years. It was a pleasure to guide Dan.
