KITIMAT RIVER: PHOTO OF THE WEEK
Aug 30 I had the pleasure of drifting with my grandson, Zander, my son, Uncle Corey and Zander’s friend, Warren. We hooked 4 Coho but only landed one during our morning drift.. Loosing Coho is a harsh reality of Coho fishing but it is awesome ammunition to have some fun with your friends and relatives. 3 generations doing a little “Trash talking”! 🙂
Also of note, when I fish with my eleven year old fishing partners, there are always a few less Hot dogs in the world!

Aug 26 Gord Mckeen, Pro Guide for Reliable Guide and Charters fishing with our clients, Pierre and Alex hooked a bunch of Coho on Fly and gear , kept 4 and either released the rest or the Coho released themselves! : )

Aug 30 Gord Mckeen and Corey Wakita, Pro Guides for Reliable Guide and Charters drifted with Bruce, Donna, Lesley Bond and Bruce Cockerill. Both boats caught a bunch of Coho and a fairly bright Pink. Great Job everyone!
Worthy of note was the competitive spirit between the two boats even tho they were family. In most cases, this is when the “trash talking'” gets even better. : )

SUMMARY
Anglers are reminded that Pink and Chum closes for retention Aug 31st midnight.
Also. The use of Bait is opened Sept 1st 2026.
During the latter part of this week, we received the biggest tides of this tide cycle. We received 18′ High tides on Aug 30th and 31st. As the tide grew the Coho catch numbers also increased. The morning bite consistently produced better catch numbers despite the higher tides were in the afternoon. The afternoon tide produced in the lower river holes but not as many as the morning bite. This is typical when the Kitimat River is low and clean. Smart money says, “Set the alarm clock for the early morning bite!”

SUMMARY
Coho are being caught through out the Douglas Channel including Clio Point and Jesse Falls. I predict that the winner of this year’s Chamber of Chamber Derby will be caught in the Kitimat Harbour. Most boaters fishing the Kitimat Harbour are reporting fishing deeper than usual..80 to 100′.

We are open 8:00 am to 9:00 pm seven days a week.
Halibut, Prawns and Crab still remains strong.
