Sept 1 Damon and his Dad, Daniel Chimko hooked a pile of Coho, landed 3 including these 2 Beauties. Damon is a member of Ron’s Fishing Tackle Sales Team. Damon’s knowledge is on full display in the picture.
It is always refereshing to watch a father and son enjoy the sport of fishing together. Well done guys and Congratulations on your catch. Thank You for sharing your pictures with our fishing report.
Sept 7 Des Nevraumont, Pro Guide for Reliable Guide and Charters drifted with Theresa, Branden and Geoff. They landed these beauties. Congratulations Everyone! Great Job Des!
Theresa was gifted a Gift Certificate for a 6 hr Driftboat Trip and she invited Branden and Geoff. I think the Gift Certificate created some fun and memorable fishing experiences for Theresa and her friends. If the Gift Certificate was intended to bring Joy and laughter, Mission Accomplished!
The proof is in the pictures. 🙂

Sept 6 Remi send me these pictures and comments, “Hi Ron, Hope all is well! This is Rémi, just tought I’d share my catch of saturday morning before we went to pick up our fish from your freezer to head back home. Fishing the Lower Dike from 6am to just about 8am with a beat up 3/8 oz pink Thunder head jigging with not much feathers left on there haha, 7:20 & 7:50 got these two, 7 lbs & 11 lbs. My dad got two 10 minutes apart wednesday morning, one was 13 lbs, he got 2-13 lbs this week. We got our possession limit, didn’t expect that considering the condition and how slow it’s been overall but we fished from before sunrise to just after sunset, pretty much dark until dark every day, it paid off for our effort.
Take care Ron, we’ll see you next year, tight lines!
Rémi”
Congratulations on everyine’s catch. Thank You sharing your picutres and for your business.

Sept. 4 I had the pleasure of drifting with Nathan, Buck and Andrew. The acronym I used with the first letter of their first names was N.B.A. We were the N.B.A Fishing Team. 🙂
Andrew is proudly holding a very nice Kitimat River Coho he caught just as we were planning to have lunch. This Coho arrived just in time to become lunch. : ) We barbecued this Coho right on the boat and it was delicious. Good Job N.B.A Fishing Team.
Thank You for using our Guide Services. It was a pleasure to fish with you all.
Sept 3 Des and I had the pleasure of drifting with Ty, Mitch, Daniel and Cory. We hooked a bunch of Pinks with a few Coho mixed in.
Both boats had a lot of fun and laughs. I believe part of being a good angler is to have a lot of patience and a good sense of humour.
There was no shortage of humour in either boat. 🙂
Congratulations on your catch. Thank You for using our services. Des and I had a wonderful time fishing with you all.
Sept 3 I had the pleasure of drifting with Matt and Sierra. We hooked 2 Coho and landed the one that Matt is holding. We also hooked a bunch of pinks.and we think maybe a another Coho.
We had a wonderful drift with lots of action. Thank You to Matt and Sierra for using our Guide and Charter Services. It was fun fishing with you both.

Summary
The Kitimat River is producing Coho abeit not as many as we typically catch this time of year. The warmer water, low, clean water, receding tides and the dropping river levels are all being blamed for the lower catch rates. We are receiving some peak high tides in the next few days which we are hoping will push more Coho into the Kitimat River. The high tides will definetley make a difference but what we really need is some rain. A rise in the Kitimat River water levels will literally float All Boats. We need some rain.
The problem is in Kitimat, one has to be carefull what one wishes for. Especially in Sept and October.
Stay tuned!
Anglers are reminded that Roe is open on the Kitimat River to fish for Salmon but not to target Trout or Steelhead.

SUMMARY
The Douglas Channel is producing excellent numbers of Halibut and Bottomfish. There are plenty of Crab and Prawns being caught and the best part of current events is that we have been receiving mostly calm seas.
Coho fishing this season has erractic. Most boaters reported better Coho catches weeks ago. The Labour weekend is usually really good. I would personally prefer excellent Halibut, Crabbing and Prawns fishing in calm seas with Coho fishing a little off than the reverse. As long as the Coho returns eventually happens.
Stay tuned!
