Summary

The Kitimat River received some rain mid week which caused a couple positive results.  The higher river level  combined with the Peak High tides of this tide cycle produced a bumb in the Coho catch rates.  Although we are far from peak season numbers, there are some very happy Coho anglers.
The high water level was a “God send” because it washed out lots of the Pinks that would be dying and rotting on the shoreline.
Anglers are reminded that Coho Daily retention quotas is 4 per day, only 2 over 50 cms.
Anyone who would like to partipate in the Annual Kitimat Chamber of Commerce Coho Derby this Labour Day Weekend are reminded to get tickets on Friday.  Please bring cash and  the correct change if possible.  It is 21.00 for Adults and 10.50 for youth.
WEIGH IN is at the Kitimat Rod and Gun Club

SUMMARY

Halibut, Crab and prawning remains really good.
Coho are being caught in the outer waters of the Douglas Channel but the Kitimat Harbour Fishery Coho  catch numbers are lower than normal.
The Kitimat River  levels are dropping.  Usually when this happens this time of year, the Coho “Stack up” in the harbour.
The Saltwater anglers are hoping this happens for the Coho Derby while the river anglers are hoping the Coho run the river.
Either way, lots of Coho are going to be caught and a Good Time will be had by All!
There is seperate Saltwater Largest Coho Prize this year.
