More importantly, the Kitimat River has started to produce some Chinook.
There have also been many reports have of fish lost and lines breaking as well as a few landed. The high river levels has caused faster river currents. Chinook are not only difficult to hook but also the most challenging to land. The more difficult the challenge, the gratifying the reward of accomplishment.
 June 7 Mike Herzberg drifted the lower Kitimat with Alvaro, one of his favorite fishing partners and landed this beauty. Congratulations Alvaro!
This is the Mike's first Chinook landed with his new Drift boat. Congratulations Mike. "A sign of more good things to come".
This Chinook was landed with a Luhr Jensen Kwik Fish.
 June 8 Mike Herzberg's second Kitimat River Chinook caught with his new Driftboat. Of significance, it is the first Chinook that Mike has personally landed in his new Drift boat. Congratulations Mike! There are certain "firsts" in a man's life that are memorable. Well done Mike!
Summary
This is an exciting time of year to fish the Kitimat River. Chinook sure gets the adrenalin pumping! The fish are big, bad, bright and beautiful!

Douglas Channel
June 5
Paul Connolly and Denise Lodge caught this 38lb. Chinook. Paul reports, "Caught this baby on Monday June 5 out near Dorothy Island on an anchovy
Matter of fact....I think I bought the anchovies from your Mom..LOL". Congratulation to Paul and Denise. I will also pass on to "The Admiral" that she sold the "Lucky Bait":)
June 9/10 Todd and Nesia, owner/operates of Nauticalwest Fishing Adventures spend the weekend doing some personal fishing. They landed 6 Chinook during their trip and created some awesome memories and photos for the family album. Congratulations Todd and Nesia. THese Chinook were caught using a Gibbs Blue/Green UV Highliner Flasher and a Jim Gilbert Teaser with a Medium Herring.

June 10 Bill and Sharon Bazylinski landed 3 Chinook fishing in the Kitimat Harbour fishing with Wes Owens of Golden Adventures. I had the pleasure of fishing with Bill and Sharon on their trip with Wes. We had a wonderful day of fishing. The weather was awesome and the "Fish Gods" smiled on us with 3 Chinook.
These Chinook were caught with a Luhr Jensen #1 Flasher and a Rhys Davis Blue/Green Anchovy Teaser and Anchovy

June 11 Jason Caseelman holding a Red Snapper he caught fishing with Andreas from Kingfish Adventures. This is one of 20 other Rockfish that they caught on their trip. Congratulations to Jason! Well done Andreas!
Summary
Chinook are being caught from the open waters of the Douglas Channel to the Kitimat Harbour.
She is also producing bottomfish, Halibut, crab and prawns. It is a productive time to be fishing the Douglas Channel. Gotta love it! .
