Halibut fishing is available all year round except for January when it is usually closed (New regulations pending).
The Douglas Channel has produced some monster halibut over the years. Gary Schuss boated a 391 lb halibut out of the Douglas. The picture is proudly displayed in our Tackle store.
The outer waters of the Douglas produces halibut all year (except January) but the inner waters are better during July, August and September when the Salmon rivers are flushing spawned salmon carcasses into the salt water. More halibut migrate into the inner waters of the Douglas Channel to feed on these salmon carcasses.
