KITIMAT RIVER:

During the early part of this week the Kitimat River was exceptionally low and clear with lots of Coho jumping.  The most productive time to catch Coho was the early mornings although the Lower Kitimat River also produced during the incoming tides.  Many anglers reported seeing lots of Coho swimming past them in the low, clean water but the difficulty was getting them to bite especially in the afternoons.  Anglers who were hoping for a little rain were granted their wish on Thursday.  One has to be careful what you wish for and the Kitimat River level rose and as of Friday was high and dirty.

Sept 18 Keaton Demelo weighed in a 12.6lb Coho into our Instore Derby.   Logan Carrita also weighed in a 7.7lb Coho.  Congratulations to Keaton and Logan.  Both Logan and Keaton report catching their Coho at Cable Car using Jims Jigs

Sept 19 Our Moblie took this photo of Randy Dean at the Upper-Lower Dike holding 2 Coho he caught using Rainbow Jigs.  Randy reports fishing was the best early in the morning but they have caught Coho during the evening bite as well.  Congratulations Randy!
Derek Chamberlain reports landing 2 Coho at the Lower-Lower Dike during the early morning bite.  Well done Derek.

Summary
The Kitimat River will drop and clean very fast once the rain stops. The tributaries of the Kitimat River usually cleans first and will provide good fishing opportunities at the confluences where the tributaries enter the Kitimat River.  When the Kitimat River drops Coho fishing will be outstanding!  Here's hoping the rain stops soon.

DOUGLAS CHANNEL

Sept 25 Wes Owen landed a small feeder Chinook in the Kitimat Harbour.  Wes was trolling for some late Coho migrating through the Kitimat Harbor on route to the Kitimat River when he hooked this Chinook.  Well done Wes!

Sept 26 Ferd Bouzane skippering the Hanapai on a Bottomfishing trip with Dan Roth and Gerald Finley Dan, Ferd and Gerald boated 18 Snapper and Quill backs, 4 Ling Cod and 4 Halibut.  They were using Penn 330 GTI Reels, Penn Slammer Rods, 80lb Tuff Line and Gibbs Spreader Bars.  They were fishing in the Butedale area.  Congratulations Guys!

Summary
Bottom fishing in the Douglas Channel will continue to be good but the weather will be the determining factor for boaters.  Coho fishing opportunities will be limited as most of the Coho have migrated into the rivers.  Feeder Chinook will also become a viable Salmon fishing option.

Thank You to everyone for providing photos and info to this Fishing Report.
