KITIMAT RIVER: We have received incredibly warm weather this past week. The warm temperature combined with a few days of rain we received this week has melted large portions of the snow along the river banks. There is a feeling of "Spring" on the Kitimat River and many anglers are taking advantage of the nice weather to get out fishing. Feb 9 Justin Lowes and James Botrokoff landed 15 Dolly Varden Trout and Justin lost what he estimated to be an 8lb Steelhead. Justin lost the Steelhead on a doulbe egg pattern.
Feb 10 Ariel Kuppers fished with his girl friend, Nicolette and his friend Trent Vines. They landed 5 Trout on the upper Kitimat River.
Feb 12 Trent Vines landed 4 Cutthroat and a Dolly Varden and lost a bunch more in the lower Kitimat River.
 Feb 13 Ariel Kuppers went out for a couple of hours after work and landed one nice Cutthroat and lost a bunch more.
  Summary The most popular methods for catching Trout on the Kitimat River this week was Fly Fishing or Float fishing worms. The double egg pattern and the silver minnow are 2 patterns that have been productive for Trout. Float fishing with the Gibbs 3/4" X 4" Float and Dew worms from Bubba's Bait has also been productive.
DOUGLAS CHANNEL: With the nicer weather more boaters are starting to venture out on the Douglas Channel. There are plenty of signs of Herring but no Winter Chinook to report this week. We received a few reports of boaters catching some Crab during the week. A few boaters have gone out for the weekend but have not yet returned to report their catch. Stay tuned. The weather is great, the conditions are good and there are fish being caught!
