PHOTO OF THE WEEK: AUG 29 Jerry and his older brother Lee Dennill are holding 2 Coho that Lee caught on a morning drift with me, Ron Wakita. It has always been on Lee’s Bucket list to drift the Kitimat River for many years. Lee not only checked “the Kitimat River Driftboat trip” off his Bucket list, he also outfished and out trashed talked his kid brother, Jerry. : ) All kidding aside, it was a pleasure to fish with my long time friend, Jerry and his brother Lee. We had a lot of laughs and caught some fish in the process. Blessings to Jerry, Lee and entire Dennill family!.
Aug 28 Adam Legge, Pro Guide for Reliable Guide and Charters, guided Jordan, Amanda and Debra on our 1/2 Driftboat Special offer. Congratulations Jordan, Amanda and Debra !
Aug 30 This photo was provided by Kurt Anderson, “Addison Bradley got this 9.6 lb Coho fishing with his Grandpa. Blue Pirate was the choice of hotshot.”. Excellent choice of fishing partners. Another generation of “Anderson Anglers”. This is a proud Grandpa/Grandson moment. The proof is in the picture not to mention the smiles. Congratulations to Addison and his Grandpa! Thank You for sharing your photo with our Fishing Report.
Aug 31: Rosa and Gord caught their coho limit while on a Driftboat Trip with with Reliable Guide and Charters Pro Guide, Dan Patchett. I was drifting with some friends the same the day and every time we

Sept 3 Kurt Anderson provided this photo of “The fisherman’s mouse trap”. It is said that, “Men should not be left unsupervised”….This is a prime example. The scary part is that this may actually work! These are pretty clever guys! : )

Sept 3 Mathias Luis is 12 yrs old and he won the Largest Youth Prize in the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce Derby. I have been a sponsor of the Chamber of Commerce Derby for 30 years and it was with pride that I presented Mathias with the Keeper plaque and Ambassadeur 6500 and Trophy XL rod. I sense some pride in Mathias’s smile and according to his Mom, he is very happy. Congratulations Mathias! Well done!
Mathias stopped into our Tackle store prior to the derby and was given our “Lucky High Five” by myself and our staff. The “Lucky High Five” worked. The proof is in the picture! : )
This Derby is very special to me because in it’s history, my daughter Julie has won the Largest Coho overall and other daughter, Michelle has won the Largest Women’s Coho and my Grandson, Zander participated in his first derby and caught a crab. : ) I am sure other long time residents have simular fond memories of this Labour weekend event. I am proud to be a Sponsor, a Dad, Grandpa and a Resident of Kitimat!
All the other sponsors and organisers deserve to be aplauded for their efforts and generousity. Well done everyone! We all hope everyone who participated had fun during the 30th Annual Chamber of Commerce Derby. Blessings to All!
