Aug 14 Marc Girard, Pro Guide for Reliable Guide and Charters guided Luc Lanthier and Mathieu  Lemay on our Special 1/2 (4hour) Driftboat offer for 300.00 for 2 people.  Luc and Mathieu enjoyed their Driftboat Trip with Marc and Luc said, “I would say probably a dozen Pinks landed on about 15 hooked plus one big Coho lost.i am looking forward to another trip in 2 weeks this on for a full day on September 4th”.  Thank You for using our Guiding services Luc and Mathieu.  We look forward to providing you with a very productive Driftboat Trip in Coho season.

Aug 15 I had the pleasure of drifting with Jalisa Schaber, Dawson Calkins and Chris Studiman down the lower Kitimat River.  We were doing a little staff training as Jalisa runs Ron’s Mobile Tackle Van and Dawson is on staff with Ron’s Fishing Tackle Van and Bait Shop.  Chris is a Regional Manager with Big Rock Sports Distributor and was invited along, mostly to balance the boat and to add some quick wit and humour. As it turned out, bringing someone 6’5″ comes in handy with the net.  : )  On a more serious note, we all share the passion of fishing and the intended goal was to have some fun, catch some fish and do a little trash talking in the process.  We hooked probably 30 plus Pinks and 3 Coho.  We kept 8 Pinks and 2 Coho.  We were using Luhr Jensen Hot Shots, Kwik Fish and our exclusively own Thunder JIgs, The Jesus Series.  Most importantly we created a pile of laughs in the process.  This was definetly a fishing trip where quick wit was the best defence.  Thank You to Jalisa, Chris and Dawson for blessing me with your company and for helping to create very fun fishing trip.

Aug 15 Joel Brandner shared this photo of him proudly holding the fish he caught on the new rod and reel he purchased from Ron’s Mobile Fishing Tackle Van and Bait Shop. The rod is a Shimano  7’Convergence and the reel is a Shimano Nexave 4000 FD. We pride ourselves in providing the right rod and reel within our customer’s budget that will catch the intended fish.  Mission accomplished!   Thank to Joel for sharing your photo with our Fishing Report.  Congratulations on your catch and your business is very much appreciated!

Aug 15 I received this photo and these very nice words from Mark Edwards.
“Hi Ron, Attached is the picture of my boy with his pink caught last week on the Kitimat River near the pumphouse. Please send me a link to where you post it on your website or facebook, I’ll make sure get him the most likes to win the drift boat trip.
I’d like to thank you and your staff for all the advice and encouragement during our visit, and we’ll be back in a couple years to take a drift boat trip with you (hopefully my son will be over his fear of boats by then).
It was great to be back in Kitimat, as I was born and raised there and hadn’t been back in 6 years since my dad passed (David Edwards).
Thanks,
Mark Edwards”
My condolences about your Dad.  Thank You so much for your very nice words.  I will share your comments to our staff.  I am very proud of our staff and I am sure they will be delighted to hear that we were able to help you to catch fish during your visit back to Kitimat.  I will have your son’s photo posted on Reliable Guide and Charter’s Face Book Photo Contest Fund Raiser page to raise money for the Wild Fire Victim’s Fund in addition to this fishing Report.  Thank You for sharing your photo with us.

Aug 16 Adam Legge, Associate Guide for Reliable Guide and Charters drifted with his good friends, Corbin and Dave.  Adam was doing a pre-client driftboat trip in preparation for our clients driftboat trips he has booked.  Prepare in the positive and success in the details.  Corbin and Dave look pretty happy about being involved in Adam’s preparations.
Anyone wishing to Book a Driftboat Trips of a Lifetime with Adam, please email Ron wakita@telus.net or call 250 632 1275.

Aug 17 8:00 AM Marc Girard fishing with our clients Ed Bracey and his lovely wife  on our 1/2 Driftboat Special, Rosemarie just landed this very nice Coho.  It is safe to say that Mr and Mrs Bracey starting off their day on the right track.  Congratulations everyone.
Ed hooked a Coho on his first cast and was very happy to tell me the story after the trip. This doesn’t happen very often but when it does, you always want to tell everyone!  : )
Rosemarie also looks pretty happy holding her Coho.  During their 1/2 day drift the Bracey Team hooked 5 Coho, kept 2, released one and the other Coho released themselves.  Ed caught his Coho on a Pink/Chartreuse Thunder Jig.  Thunder Jigs are approved by the Coho and by Ed and by Rosemarie.  The proof is in the pictures.

Aug 20 I had the pleasure of drifting with Janis, Debbie and Rob from Calgary.  Janis, Debbie and Rob participated in the “Westcoast Rumble” hosted by the Kitimat Harvest Church.  The Good Lord blessed Kitimat with an amazing weekend of fellowship, unbelievable worship music, outstanding speakers and as always, his Holy presence.
Thank You to Janis, Rob and Debbie for you fellowship in my Driftboat.  I love to share my passion for fishing and God with those who think the same.  God Bless!

Summary
The Kitimat River has plenty of Pinks, albeit the males are humped up and the females are starting to spawn.  Chum are pretty much finished for the season.
Coho were starting to be caught in really good numbers before we received some heavy rain late this week.  When the Kitimat drops, I suspect that there will be quite a few Coho throughout the entire Kitimat system.  Just in time for the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce Fishing Derby.  Tickets will be available at Ron’s Bait Shop and Ron’s Mobile Tackle Van.

This was a 3 Day Trip.  Multiple day trips are lot more enjoyable not to mention more productive. We all reach a phase in our lives when the fond memories of fun times shared by family and or good friends are the priority.  Fishing with us creates many opportunities to share the fish stories in the subsequent text messages, facebook posts and always during the fish barbecues and dinners.  The proof is in the pictures.
