DOUGLAS CHANNEL PHOTO OF THE WEEK
June 25 Desiree and her father, Curtis Neuraumont provided this photo and comment, “During this trip to Douglas Channel Trevor, Jake, Desiree and Curtis saw humpbacks, bald eagles, and seals basking. We set our lines in 150ft of water and trolled with both spoons and anchovies. We hooked up with six Chinook, two hatchery coho, and one pink salmon, with anchovies behind the “sooke special” being the most popular. On the way back we pulled our traps and they were full with large Dungeness crab”
Congratulations Everyone! Thank You for sharing your pictures and experience with our Fishing Report.

In Dave’s defence, the proof is always in the pictures!
June 27 Andre Lesage holding his first Chinook which measured 67cms. This Chinook was also caught on the Pearl Clown #2 Spin N Glo with the Pink UV Hoochie. Congratulation Andre and Thank You for sharing your picture with our Fishing Report.
Dave may call Andre, “First timer” and Andre’s Chinook may have been a touch of Beginner Luck but despite the banter, these two make a pretty good fishing team. The proof is in the pictures.
SUMMARY
The Kitimat River received great weather this week. The downside that comes the high temperatures was that the river level rose and at times became a little murky. The river also dropped just as fast from the cooler temperature of the evening and the spread from low to high river levels on some days was as much as 18″. Accordingly more fish were caught when the river was lower and cleaner mostly in the late afternoon and evenings.. With the higher than normal amount of snow pack still remaining, we will experience more of the same for a while longer.
Anglers are reminded that the dailly quota for Chinook on the Kitimat River is one under 80cms and must be recorded on your Fishing License immediately.

Summary
The Douglas Channel produced better numbers of Chinook this week despite the continuing presence of Killer Whales. With the Killer Whales disrupting the natural migration of Chinook, many boaters are focusing on Halibut and Bottom Fish especially when the weather allowed boaters to get to the outer waters.
The weather was outstanding and the fishing for most boaters was just as good.
The great weather enabled the Douglas Channel to show her scenic grandeur and the good fishing highlighted her stock abundance.
We are truly fortunate and blessed to experience of the Douglas Channel.
