LIVE FISHING REPORT: Reliable Guide and Charters and Ron’s Mobile Fishing Tackle and Bait Shop Fishing Report Week ending June 2/19

PHOTO OF THE WEEK;  KITIMAT RIVER June 2 Maxime and Guillaume are photoed here holding a very nice Chinook they landed on our 1/2 Day 4 hour Driftboat Special for 300.00 for 2 clients.  Maxime commented, “that this was one of the best fishing trips ever.  It was a Team effort.!”.  Congratulations guys and Thank You for using our Guide services. It was a lot of fun fishing with you.
Anglers are reminded that only Chinook under 80 cms can be retained and must be recorded on your license.

June 1 Cory Larsen holding a 82 cm long Chinook he caught and released on the lower, lower dike on the Kitimat River. Cory also landed 2 Steelhead while he was bar fishing for Chinook.  Anglers are reminded that only Chinook under 80 cms can be retained.  Any Chinook kept under 80 cms must be recorded on your fishing license.

Every high tide seems to be producing the odd Chinook.  There have been many reports of Chinook landed and lost.  There were 2 reports of Chinook hooked but during the fight, the fish were high jacked by seals.
It is still early but it is an exciting time to be fishing the Kitimat River.  I Love Chinook season!
Stay Tuned!

Douglas Channel

Kevin Thorne holding a 40 plus lb.Chinook he caught and released in the Douglas Channel.  Kevin says that he releases anything fish over 25 lbs landed in his boat to preserve the genetics of the larger chinook.

Kevin explains, “please make sure to let everyone know the importance of releasing those bigger fish to preserve their genetics. Years back we saw fish like this every day. Now they are pretty rare. I try to send everything back over 25. 12-20 pounders are way better table fare anyway. Smaller fillets and much easier to cook properly. I’m hoping fisheries and oceans will implement a size limit in the ocean as well.”  Well done Kevin.  Congratulations on your catch and even more Kudos for your ethics.

May 27 Chanel is holding a beautiful Chinook she caught fishing with her father, Andreas Handl of Kingfishing Adventures.  They landed 4 Chinook and lost a couple more.  Congratulations to Dad and daughter.  Well done!

May 28: Marianne Morrell holding a Douglas Channel chinook she caught fishing with Andreas Handl of Kingfishing Adventures.  Congratulation Marianne!

The outer waters of the Douglas Channel is producing good numbers of Chinook.  Halibut has also starting to get better.
There have been lots of feeder Chinook caught in close to the Kitimat Harbour.  Everything is starting to shape up like we are going to have a good season.  The big Chinook are on their way!
Stay tuned!
