SUMMARY
The Kitimat River Chinook run this year has been outstanding to date, especially the 3 year old males. These are the Chinook that are under the 80cms in length which anglers are able to keep.
A few Chum have been caught but more and more pinks are starting to show up with every high tide. I suspect the high tides either side of Sat. July 6th at 18.7′ will produce a bump of Chinook and Pinks.
The only negative influence is the Kitimat River levels have been slowly dropping. Our forecast is for some very hot temperatures. There is still some snow pack in the headwaters of the Kitimat River which will keep river levels up but as soon it melts, river levels will be very low.
Enjoy the sunshine and this year’s outstanding Chinook run.
KITIMAT RIVER UPDATE
The Kitimat River is open for retention of One Chinook/day under 80cms.

SUMMARY
We are entering the most productive time to fish the Douglas Channel. Chinook fishing is spread out from open waters of Douglas Channel to the mouth of the Kitimat River. Pinks, Chum and Coho are starting fill the entire Douglas with a bunch being caught in the Kitimat Harbour.
Usually when the Pinks start to run, Halibut and bottomfish start to migrate into the inner waters of the Douglas Channel. Halibut and bottomfish catch rates are already starting to show increased numbers.
The weather forecast is for outstanding weather. Enjoy the sunshine and the bounties of the Douglas Channel.
Good Luck and Stay Safe
