Summary

The Kitimat River is starting to experience an excellent return of Pinks.  Pinks are the most popular salmon species for the whole family. The kids, especially those under 12 years old, have mastered the art of jigging.  It’s all about the right “Twitch”.  Even the Moms and Grand Moms are getting into the act of Jigging for Pinks.  Well done Ladies and kids!
This year’s return of Chinook continues to be outstanding especially the numbers of smaller Chinook under 80 cms.   There have have many reports of anglers catching and retaining their first Chinook.  Ron’s Fishing Tackle Store’s Staff and Reliable’s Guides are proud to help our customers and clients accomplish this amazing experience.
To date, the returns have been the best in recent years :)..
Early returns of Chinook had all the signs of a larger than average return. At this juncture in the season, the early signs of a large return are now turning into reality.  I personally think there may be a run of bigger Chinook yet to come.
In addition to the exception return of Chinook and an excellent return of Pinks there few early Chum starting to show.
As always the best time of day to fish Pinks are on the rising tides.  Our website has a link to the Kitimat River tide tables and our Tackle Store has a Tide Table above the door.
Our website also has a link to the Kitimat River height website.  Also contained in our website is our Full Live Fishing Reports.  The these helpful, almost essential aids to fish the Kitimat River.  Anglers wishing to learn more about their importance, please pop into our Tackle Shop and I would be happy to explain how the entire program works.
The Salmon stocks on the Kitimat River are outstanding and is best described by the pictures in my Full report.  Please ciick the numerous links to see for yourself.  Full Report.
Most of the credit for the exception returns belongs to the hard work and dedication of the Kitimat Hatchery Staff and Management..
The best way to show our appreciation to them for their efforts is by dropping off All Hatchery Heads to the Kitimat Hatchery or Ron’s Tackle Shop or Mobile Tackle Van.
We are also requesting pictures of all larger Hatchery Chinook be emailed to wakita@telus.net.  I will then forward them to Vince at the Kitimat Hatchery and i will utilize the pictures to pursue an opening of larger Chinook.
