Summary
The Kitimat River needed a little rain to bring the river level up to entice some Coho into the river. We did receive some rain but we have to carefull what we wish for. The Kitimat rose and caused some high and mirky river conditions for a couple days this week. In the positive, lots of Coho came into the river and were caught in bunches as the river level rose and fell. As shown in the Fishing Report, one group from Vanderhoof landed 12 Coho.
The high water also flushed out some old Pink and Chum carcasses which will hopefully avoid our annual Kitimat River smelly shoreline.
The high water also moved a lot more Coho into the middle sections of the Kitimat River. This year’s Coho run has signs of being a good one. The lower Kiitmat (below Haisla bridge) is producing excellent numbers of Coho and this should continue for the rest of the year. Stay tuned to this Fishing Report.

Summary
Sue Channel was the hot spot for Coho this week. Money Point was hot and cold all week. Good one tide and off the next. There was a pretty good bite starting to happen in the Kitimat Harbour but the Kitimat River levels rose with this week’s rain and many of the Coho in the harbour headed into the river. There were still a few Coho caught in close but there were better catch results down in Sue.
Halibut fishing has been excellent not withstanding the frustration of the new Halibut quotas. This is the most productive time to fishing Halibut in the Douglas Channel. Anyone wishing to check off Halibut from their Bucket List, please contact Ron 250 632 1275 or wakita@telus.net.
Please also inquire about our All Inclusive multi day trips as these packages are the best and most relaxed way to enjoy the stock abundance of the Douglas Channel especially the Natural Hotsprings.
