Summary
Chinook are being caught on the Kitimat River but not in any big numbers yet. There are one or two Chinook landed in most of the holes in the lower Kitimat River every day. Chinook fishing should pick up with the exceptionally high tides in the next few days.
We are still experiencing snow melt and high water due to the hot weather. It seems that with the influence of the high water that certain holes fish better when the river is high. Accordingly other holes fish better when the river drops. A classic example of this is the Pump House Pool. When the river is high, the Pump House catches more Chinook than the Ist Dike which is directly across from the Pump House. When the Kitimat River drops, the Ist Dike catches more Chinook which was evident earlier in the week when the river was low.
The Mobile Tackle Van logs the catch results in every hole. We log where, when and how the fish are caught relative to the height of the water and the height of the tide. Stay tuned to this report for up to date info and pictures.
