PHOTO OF THE WEEK KITIMAT RIVER: May 5: I had the pleasure of fishing with Antonio Cangiano during our 1/2 Day, 4 hour Special for 300.00 We hooked 4 Steelhead and landed 2 Kitimat River Steelhead. Congratulations Antonio! Thank You for using our Guide services.
There were a only a few bright Steelhead caught on the Kitimat River this week. Most Steelhead are either in spawning colours or have already spawned.
There were 2 Chinook reported being lost on the Lower Dike this week. It is still early for Chinook but there are always a few caught in May.
Chinook daily quota on the Kitimat River is One per day under 80cms.

Kitimat River Updates Face Book Page:
In response to last year’s drowning on the Kitimat River, a group from Kitimat developed a Face Book page called Kitimat River Updates.
This group is comprised of Kitimat Driftboat anglers, Kitimat Search and Rescue, Kitimat Hatchery staff and the R.C.M.P.
This is a Public Face Book which anyone can post to. Anyone observing any hazards on the Kitimat River are encouraged to post pictures and/or video complete with specific details of the hazard to this page. Please include accurate details of the location of the hazard and the time the pictures or video were taken.
Anyone drifting the Kitimat River are encouraged to view this Face Book Page to acquaint themselves of any potential hazards,

Halibut fishing has been productive for the boaters who ventured out to target halibut.
Chinook catch should increase on the outer waters of the Douglas Channel through out May and into June..
